Might be time for an upgrade, haha. But, if you're just playing Tibia, I guess it doesn't matter much. :p

I'm thinking about getting one of these new Maxwell GPU's. Been keeping an eye on the 860M. Seems to be a pretty decent card.

works fluently with all games, just for the newest ones you gotta disable anti-analysing :o
also i would recommend getting a new hdd, since it got some "blackouts" sometimes for a minute or so.

I'm looking at laptops again. Considering a system with the GTX 970M - probably the best "price : performance" ratio available atm.

Does anyone have a gaming laptop with this GPU?

Used to have a laptop, back to desktop again, they die so fast :(

Get a razer blade. xD

Razer is hyped up a bit too much. Not worth the cost for the performance you get.

I'm considering an upgradeable unit, such as the Sager NP9752-S. It comes with Z97 chipset, supporting the 4790K desktop processor, and has a GTX 980M with 8GB's VRAM. From the review a friend of my posted on YouTube, it has monster heat sinks and keeps the laptop at very nice temperatures. The sacrifice with that is mobility. It's quite a hefty laptop. So, I'm not sure I want it...

EDIT: There are also rumors going around that the next generation of graphics will not support the current socket type. So, "upgradeable" machines will not be of any benefit, lol.

For how expensive it is, you won't find anything with those kind of stats that is that small, which is the only reason I like it for a laptop.

There are some Gigabyte laptops (new ones) that are similar, but lesser quality. I'm not really looking for something like that, though.

I heard it gets pretty warm, and is quite loud while gaming. How are the temps?

I got me a Alienware M17x R4

Bought the basic option from them and upgraded everything myself after market, I like how easy then made it to open up and service/change hardware.

been solid for the last few years that I have owned it and the LED keyboard is always fun.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.60GHz

32 GB RAM 1866 mhz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M

Intel HD 4000 integrated

Corsair Neutron GTX SSD 480gb

Killer Wireless-N

The 660M is prone to failure, yes. I've owned the M17x R4 with the 680M and 3D screen. It was great.

He can always upgrade. The 680M is very cost-friendly now.

It's still 400$ ~ give or take a bit for a card that is 3 years old now..

The one thing I hate about upgrading laptops, the fact that suppliers only sell to the OEM.

No problems yet and I've owned it for 4 years now and have pushed the GPU hard for long hours and I also have it overclocked.

barley gets warm really(It does always sit on a really nice cooling pad that ensures the vents have clear ventilation)

I find most heat issues with laptops are lack of or poor user maintenance.

but I'm almost OCD about cleaning any comp I own, every month and everything down to wiping each fan blade down with a q-tip and replacing heat-sync paste.
O C Delightful!

I have been watching the prices of the 680M, prob will throw one in and get a little more juice.

Yes it's a bit harder to find hardware compared to desktop versions but still able to find anything you need, just gotta dig a little deeper in some cases.

Looking at the 780m and it seems I would need to mod my drivers for it to work, not true with the 680m... wonder why.

The 680M was made for the M17x R4. That's basically why (in layman's terms). If you're not "tech-savvy" enough, just grab the 680M. It performs within 10%-20% of the 780M.

The 780M is a slightly better card. It has more vRAM and more cores. It will perform a bit better for approximately the same price. The installation process is actually quite simple. You need to follow this guide to modify the drivers (http://forum.techinferno.com/nvidia/5249-%5Bguide%5D-modding-nvidia-oem-inf-files.html).

You will need a 240W PSU and a triple-pipe heat sink for both cards, and of these can be found on eBay.

I'm tech-savvy enough to install it and all, I know the requirements, just didn't realize I needed to mod my drivers until I looked into it, I know it's a simple process, but i'll probably go with the 680m, it's enough of an upgrade for me, since the 660M serves all my needs without any problem.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Sager NP9752-S. Should ship out this week. It's a beast 15.6" laptop. Should do me well.

The most favorable aspect of it, in my opinion, is the fact that it's completely upgradeable.

All setup and running well. New SSD arriving today, and a couple days from now more RAM. VM (Virtual Machine) is hungry for it.

out of curiosity what RAM and SSD did you buy, I recently got another 16GB of Corsair 1866 RAM for my M17x R4, and put a Corsair Neutron GTX 480GB SSD in a couple of years ago.

also, I love the Vespula mouse pad but I had to spin the foam to the other side, I found it more uncomfortable with it.

Do you plan to Over-Clock anything?

You can see the updated specs in the description here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTTLh50NmGc). I have two SSD's and a 1TB storage drive now.

And no, I'm not overclocking. No need to as of now, but I may in the future. ;)
